Copy of KPL is now KFL!

You are receiving this note because you are a client, friend, mentor, advisor, or all of the foregoing!

Many of you still remember the days not so long ago when I was working out of my apartment with my dog Gruner, under the simple, uninspired, name “Agatha Kluk Law”.  I have since moved into a real office in Manhattan, hired a team, and gotten a dog walker.  So, I’m thrilled to announce the next step in this journey.  Sonia Farber, a friend and colleague from my alma mater, Debevoise & Plimpton has joined the firm as a partner.  Sonia and I met nearly ten years ago as summer associates at Debevoise, and so I am excited to have her close by again.

We are adding Sonia to the mast head and are thrilled to announce the firm’s next genesis as Kluk Farber Law or KFL.

In light of the new branding, we have refreshed our website and updated email addresses.  You can find us all at [first name] @ klukfarber dot com. Any emails you send to our predecessor emails will automatically find our way to us, so this requires no update on your end.

Given that I have yet to introduce the full KFL team to many of you, I figured this would be an opportune time.  The team has grown quite extensively since my pajama lawyer days, and now includes attorneys with backgrounds from Sullivan & Cromwell, Cleary Gottlieb, Debevoise, NYU Law and Yale Law School.

Prior to joining KFL as a partner, Sonia Farber practiced in the Litigation Department at Debevoise, where she was a member of the international dispute resolution, civil litigation, business integrity, and cybersecurity groups, and focused on international and cross-border issues. She clerked for the Honorable Lorna G. Schofield in the Southern District of New York.

Sonia will now head KFL’s dispute resolution, cybersecurity and compliance groups. She’s currently leading the charge to ensure that all of our clients are GDPR compliant, so you will be hearing from her soon.   Sonia’s email is

Lisa Eisenberg joined KFL in 2017 from Sullivan & Cromwell and holds a law degree from NYU Law, cum laude. She is a member of our corporate practice group and advises on company formations, financings, joint ventures, and other commercial matters.  Lisa’s email is

Kate Freedman joined KFL in early 2018 from Sullivan & Cromwell, and she holds a law degree from NYU Law. She is a member of our corporate practice group and advises on company formations, licensing agreements, joint ventures, financings and general counsel matters.  Kate’s email is

Drew Macklin is joining KFL in early April 2018 from Cleary Gottlieb, where his practice currently focuses on advising fund clients in general corporate and financing matters.  Drew holds a law degree from Yale Law School.  Drew’s email is

One final note of gratitude to all of you.  Picking a legal advisor at an early stage can be daunting, given the costs, breadth of lawyers available and need for precise, yet commercially practical advice.   I appreciate that so many of you have put the goodwill of your companies and teams in our hands.  Founders will oftentimes end an initial meeting with me, with the question, “So now what’s next?”  So much of what I find rewarding about working with early stage companies is enmeshed in the answer to that question – so much uncertainty yet so much possibility.  Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey and hopefully helping you answer some of the ‘what’s next’s!  Upwards and onwards!
